Well...no doctorate is need...i am sure, someone with expirience in distilation will be able to run it without "education"

Cool rig -

do you have any fail safe/ pressure release in the vapor path in case both of those valves are closed? hard to tell from the pic but that would be handy.

Neat thumper set up for a very limited space!

This is a siphon for security purpose, conected with main keg and with thumper from side.
there is no valve in this path...pressure will be released trough thumper.
and yes....limited space for thumper, that is the max size for this set.

Hey, didn't Ilon Mask or the Bad Russians give you a call after posting it here? :)

A couple of questions at the moment:

1) how do you wash/clean the copper stuff from oxi/sulphury plaque?
2) what's an average temperature in your thumper when running?

Thanks!

Hi, no call yet...but what to say if they do :D
To clean copper, just deasemble container trough inox fittings and pull out copper pieces.
Then letf them some time in watter with lemon acid untill they become clean.
and average temp. in thumper is near 80-85 celsius degrees.
When temperature come close to 90...no more alcohol in the mash.

And so do I with my column. But I do it after every single running... so the easier to disassemble = the better. Still dreaming of clumps like that.

Do you fill it with any liquid substance before the "spirit" run? Well, all in all, what's your view on its worth or worthless?

P.S. If you use your mmm... gravitsapa  for stripping runs then your thumper must be cut off (switched out of the steam path, right?

I fill the thumper with watter, never tried something else...like wine maybe.
And if I want to get alcohol with more aroma of fruit which is used, then I dont use thumper...yes... it is switched out from steam path.

Thanx!

So, the thumper in your way is only used for catching the superfluous essential oil that would make your distillate cloudy (haze) after its dilution?..

Me, I prefer eliminating them by using a vertical section with a flux (heat and mass exchange in it).

But some guys "living here" for years are proud of having got like that. Still I try to get their "thumper" reasons... Tradition only?

If I want to get more clean alcohol I use bot reflux points, one when steam get out from main tank, and another one when come out from thumper.
Both of them can be ran separately, or together. that will make distilation slower but brings better quality.
