Solutions for a Guinness keg?
So I've seen a couple of people having issues with the size of the coupler on a Guinness keg. Basically renders all tri clamps useless. Was wondering if anyone has come up with any neat little solutions to this, since so far all I've been able to find involves grinding down the circumference or attaching specially made parts to create an adapter. I unfortunately am not the handiest lad in the world and so I'm working with some real basic tools. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Re: Solutions for a Guinness keg?
I ran into this problem, I started to grind down the outside but then decided it wasn't worth it. So now I'm using that Guinness keg to age wine in. A number 11 or 12 stopper, don't remember which one, fits in there nicely.

Here's a picture of a 2" tri-clamp on a Guinness keg
Is that threads I see inside? Might be matching threads on the keg spear

It looks like a U type keg has 2" X 14tpi threads
https://www.micro-matic.com/en/products ... ing/spears
The threads on this adapter are a little too coarse and tapered
But the 11.5tpi taper might be forced to fit inside the 14tpi keg threads

Thanks Shady, looks like that would be a neat little solution, unfortunately can't find anywhere that'll deliver to my neck of the woods. Ironic that Ireland has to be one of the worst places to get whiskey making kit!shadylane wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 4:50 pm It looks like a U type keg has 2" X 14tpi threads

Have Ya tried screwing a piece of 2" tubing into the hole yet.
If the tubing is too large to fit the hole, try cutting off a short piece and splitting it.
File off a little at a time until it's the right size. Then solder the split closed.
Screw the tubing into the treaded hole. The SS should make a good pipe threader.

Why don’t you just get a 2.5” triclamp?

Re: Solutions for a Guinness keg?
The Guinness kegs have an oddball size.
A 2" tri-clamp is too small and a 2-1/2" is too big

Re: Solutions for a Guinness keg?
So what is the actual inner and outer diameter on the top of the keg where the dip tube was?
