I’m wanting to convert my unique designed still that I picked up from a buddy to a much simpler CCVM and was hoping for some input. I’ll attach some pictures of what I have. The column is 3”x 50”, Liebig is 1” over 1/2” x 29”, the RC 2”x8”.
I know that it’s not ideal but can I reduce off the 3” column to a 2” Tee instead of keeping everything 3” since I already have plenty of 2” copper pipe, fittings and RC?
Also would I be able to use my current Liebig or do I need to build a new one? I don’t mind have some small inefficiencies but my current still head in painfully slow.

the interior of your place makes me want to light a fire put 4 fingers of rye on ice and pull up a rocking chair and put my feet up.
I finally quit drinking for good.

i recall you being a whisky maker...is reflux important? looking at that complication, i just want to cut and cap the RC side altogether and go back to a pot still.
can you just cut into the column? at 50" that's a fair amount of height, maybe you could use the 3" shell of the RC and join it into the column as a lyne arm and just lose some height, and put the RC coil into the top of the existing 3" x 50.
then reduce new the 3" lyne down to the existing liebig.

You are correct, i started out with whiskeys and now just broaden my horizons.HDNB wrote:i recall you being a whisky maker...is reflux important? looking at that complication, i just want to cut and cap the RC side altogether and go back to a pot still.

The shell for the RC is only 2".
If is not going to reduce its productivity much I'd rather go from the 3" column, reduce into a 2" TEE with a 2" horizontal takeoff into a 2" shotgun, verticle out of the TEE would be the 2"x8" RC. Not being savvy with columns yet I wasn't sure if going from the 3" column into the 2" RC and takeoff would be a problem?
