Offset head style

Postby Bavis54 » Thu Jan 17, 2019 7:03 pm

Hi friends, I’m trying to find some plans and decide on what type of column to start with, I ran across some plans for offset head type columns on parent site. Has anyone ever ran one these? If so what’s you think? I can actually understand n follow these- I just wondered how they perform.

I do run an offset style vm. I found a design I liked that used two valves with a T and then removed one valve. It looks like a Nixon stone offset, but has a vm out the other side. I am not a fan of the lm side. The valve is not sesponsive enough to have good control. Also as it’s a lm the normal decreasing reflux makes it a little less easy to run than the vm side.

The advantage is that it can be made with a minimum of welding. On my 4” T head the only welding was a single return line into the column. The rest is off the shelf parts.
