Re: Electro Chemical Weld Cleaning
I really want the TIG setup, but I've talked myself down from buying a simple inverter and doing scratch TIG which leaves the remaining options so far out of my budget that I actually stopped looking.

that's pretty cool, but in my experience you can get very similar results just using one of the recommended passivating processes using nitric acid or citric acid. I actually used Bar Keepers Friend on a few of my welds and it seemed to work just fine.
Re: Electro Chemical Weld Cleaning
I think a fresh 3M grinding pad then Bar Keepers friend would meet my personal needs but I can see where electro-chemical would be a must for anything in the food/chemical/pharmaceutical type industries.

You can do electro passivation on the cheap, buy just the replacement brushes from the really expensive machines and use a 12v or 24v power supply.. can't remember the polarity offhand but ya use phosphoric acid as the conductive/cleaning liquid, the brush brissles are made of a conductive carbon filliment and they are even cheap on aliexpress.
I'm making a new 10mm dia stainless rod brush holder cause the copper screw terminal on the brush just corrodes into copper sulphate eventually. Use safety glasses! It can spark and pop spitting acid at you useing higher amps but cleans off the oxides faster, I used an old 12v 10a power supply..
