Help with drain valve for keg

Re: Help with drain valve for keg
This is how I made my keg connections. The fitting is a 1 inch sweat x FIP . I soldered tabs to the side of the fitting for the box to screw to ( has a 1 1/4 hole for the element to fit threw in the back of the box). The sweat end has a 3/16 easy flange. The rod comes in coils its 45% silver and must use correct paiste (Harris makes it )but works on most dissimilar metals. I used electrical knock out punches to make the holes in the keg.
........WHY?.....Because I can......

Are you limited for height over your column so much that an extra couple inches would make a difference? If not, Add 3 legs or wheels to your boiler and just weld on a 90" and fit your pipe and valve to it for the finish. Else, do the TC fitting I mentioned in the other thread and do the same.

No height is not a problem. I had reached the same conclusion. Do you think it would hurt anything to use lead free brass? Trimming that tube to go under the skirt is a little beyond my comfort level.

I of the opinion brass bodied valves for potable water are fine for a drain application. Brass is best avoided in any vapour or descending path, but in contact with a little still charge in the boiler doesn't present ant issues.
