Copper Funnel

Post by JellybeanCorncob »

After doing an internet search for a large funnel with a 1 1/2 inch end and finding nothing I got to thinking. What do I have in my shop? This is what I came up with.

Copper Bowl- $1. Grage sale
2 to 1.5 inch copper reducer- $12. Leftover from thumper build
Total= $13 bucks. Not too bad for stuff I didn’t know what to do with.

Sweet! I got a reducer floating around somewhere and I think the wife has a similar SS bowl that she doesn't need anyway....

Have you used it yet? Does it glug? It is purty, so you'll probably hate this advice! I'd be tempted to give the coupler a couple really hard whacks with a BFH to make a dent that will allow it to vent if it doesnt.

Thanks guys. I posted this for anyone who is looking for a large funnel and can’t find a commercial one that works.

You know zapata I haven’t tried it yet. I took the picture with it stuck in my boiler. I’ll be using it mostly with my thumper. It has a 4 inch port along with the 2 inch one. So there should be no problem with “glugging” if the 4 in port is open. I think.
