Is my still safe?

Post by Newbie201819 »

I just bought a still $300 for 6 gallon with thumper but afraid that it has leaded solder and the copper is 5% lead from research on the product (after buying). Pics are too big to upload ?

If it has lead solder of course it's not safe. If you are not sure go to a big box depot and pick up a test kit and be sure.

Hey again, Newbie201819. Can you post the research you spoke of?
And it's impossible to tell from the photo. I've got some beautiful electronics solder work that's all shiny and smooth --and loaded with lead.

Get a lead swab kit and test on the copper and various solder points. Home Depot and other outlets sell kits that'll work just fine.
Lead will f*ck a body up good! We want you to be safe and I wish you all the best.

You can get a test kit at Lowes?
I'm getting one and test my copper, it was old stuff, been laying around for years.
I didn't know some copper has lead in it.

Test my shine too.

If it's from distillery network/ import stills .com I can probably save you some trouble by sending you a copy of the metal analysis.

Not saying your paperwork isn't genuine, but there's no "New Delhi Metal Lab" registered with UKAS...
