New Parrot Prep

I've ordered a parrot and was wondering about the vinegar/distillate cleaning/prepping for copper gear. Would it work just as well for me to let the parrot sit in the vinegar solution for a bit then fill it with some feints that I have sitting? I'd hate to waste a whole batch just to run it through a parrot?

just clean it, run it, the distillate will start the patina for you and keep it clean after use, no green or white patina thats bad
