a little help with my water cooling connection

Post by needmorstuff »

hi all. I'm looking for some advice. I am in the uk. my liebig connection is dicey. it's 15mm copper.. and my tubing is stiff polyurethane pipe. if you look at the attached pic you will see why. what I want is an easy way to have a quickly removable connection as the cooling is either to both the liebig and a reflux condensor in reflux mode or just the liebig when I'm running in pot still mode. the polyurethane tube is 8mm internal 12mm external

my water in / out hose is regular 12mm garden hose.

I use washing machine hoses...they’re stainless steel braid jacketed and flexible. I have a pipe to hose adapter threaded onto the condenser inlet and outlet and the washer hoses simply thread onto the fitting. It’s not a “quick disconnect”, which can become leaky, but it is quick to twist off at the end of the run. The washer hoses are marked “hot & cold” too, so you easily know which is the input and output.
