Welcome ausguy from Idaho, USA,
Indeed mate, (that was my humble attempt at aussie lingo), you have come to the right place. A wealth of info and knowledge from some really great folks. Tell us what you hope to make, drink, and if you have any equipment yet.
Enjoy the forums
A good place to start is the links in my signature below.

Re: G'day from australia.
thanks grasshopper.
i run a reflux still with a 50 ltr beer keg drum.
ive been making a basic sugar mash and usually get about 20 ltrs per 100 ltrs of wash @ [usually] 85/87% alc.
not too bad for more than 10 yrs running, but i am getting jack of the bottled flavourings you buy at the brew shops.
bourbon, rum and whiskey flavourings are all starting to taste the same.
ive made rum from molasses in the past with good results.
and ive got 2 x 20ltr drums of sugar spirit with bourbon barrel chips soaking.
but i am trying something new [to me] with grains.
it will be in my next post.

Thanks a bunch for the added info. That really helps us to know the degree as to where your at.
Will definitely be looking for your posts in another thread. Would be interested in knowing how your sugar shine ends up on the chips as well.

Re: G'day from australia.
Welcome ausguy
Tasted a bottle of Beenleigh's new copperpot rum couple of weekends ago and was very impressed. Liken it to Mount Gay or Matusalem.
The molasses should be cheaper up your way. Pay $28.00 for 25kg of Queensland Molasses down south here.
Enjoy the site.
