New to this site

Just found your site and looking around appears to be great knowledgeable people here.
I started distilling a year ago as a hobby and it is lots of fun. I have been using a 3gallon pot still with good success with a corn sugar mash, I also tried to make a thumper but even though it worked I would say it was just as good without. I recently purchased a 8 gallon column pot that I have not tried yet.
One of the main reasons for finding this site is to find good recipes.
I have some rye out of the field that I would like to make. My plan for this recipe is 10# cracked rye 5# 2row malt barely heated to about 160 for an hour then chill to 90 and pitch about 2oz yeast for a 6 gallon mash.
I also have access to a lot of watermelon that needs to get used up, also jalapeños and other peppers.
What do you think about my rye recipe? I want to keep everything as simple as I can.

Welcome aboard. Specific recipe questions are probably best put in a relevant thread or a new one. But first blush is you could make some tasty spirits with your still and ingredients, but that 160* is a bit too high a mash temp.
