Greetings from Argentina

Post by Patagonia-Shine »

Hello everyone , thank you all for posting all the information, tips and experience about this fabulous "hobby" .

I'm from Argentina have a 30 liter Portuguese copper pot still to which I can attach either a column 3 feet tall or a regular neck.

Just done my first run of a sugar run and ready to go for corn now.

I use DADY yeast which my sis brought me from the States. But when it will be done I do not know what to use. Here I can find easily Ale and Wine yeasts but no distillers yeast.

Thanks again for being part of this cool world of home distillation.

Cheers gentlemen

Welcome! Sounds like a great start :-)

I use bread yeast for my whisky - works very well.

Welcome, Patagonia-Shine.
I also use just plain bakers yeast. Easy & cheap.

I like bread yeast for sugar washes and ale yeast for all grain. Welcome!

Thanks for the advice !! I'm just starting but it feels so good to watch the spirit coming out of the still. Although it smells like wood alcohol jajaja , Hope I will improve it soon

Welcome Patagonia!

As for your question about yeast, I have been using baker's yeast,
It was suggested I use US-05 on my next run.
In case it makes a significant difference with my AG, I remembered this post from December regarding starter yeast.

You may want to study this and get some "starters" going off the DADY you have left.
Good luck!
