Hello, Everyone, New member from Sunny Sarasota Florida USA!

Hello,
I’m fairly new to home distilling, but finding it a COMPLETE
JOY!
( super hard work, but oddly WORTH IT! )
My name is Jerry D. ( J Dot is what everyone has called me since
I was young ) so feel free! ( no I’m not the rapper! Lol )

Ok
Me and my goals!
I’m 45, have a lovely wife and 3 wonderful children!
I build swimming pools as a career ( my brothers and I )
But grew up in a huge family, of well, Shiners! ( uncles, granddaddy, and
Even my daddy, when he was young ( then became a preacher! ) wonderful man!
Unfortunately
They are all gone now, only my mother, and my family remain now
I’m 45 now,
And do not want that part of our lives to die!
So starting from scratch, and a couple recipes I found in my fathers belongings
I took up distilling!

I’ve made some fine spirits! ( through trial and ERROR ) But I find I’m a ARTISAN, just my makeup , I guess!
Nothing is quite good enough! ( so to say! ) for me Personally!

I’m REALLY, Truely, interested in FRUIT Mashes! ( brandies! )
But have yet to be impressed! BUMMER!
But
THAT IS WHY I’m HERE, to possibly, and hopefully, learn something, share something,
And most importantly, pass something on, to my children!

I know I’m new,
I know I don’t know EVERYTHING!
I’m not sure what I can offer?
But I’m a HARD WORKER ( I’ll give it hell, as long as I live )
And I am NOT scared to try ANYTHING! Be it normal, or really far out!
You never know till you try! And I’ve tried a LOT, trust me!
We have TONS of native fruits
Leechie ( or litchi nuts ), carambola ( star fruit ), blackberries, blueberries, strawberries,
Boysenberries, raspberries, citrus ( all ), mango, loquat, chinaberry, honey locust, watermelon,
Cantaloupe, honeydew, to name a few!
I’ve tried MOST, as they come round!
If anyone is interested, I’d be glad to share my findings!

Yes,
I will and always am, Safe! ( well, never TRUELY SAFE )
but I take ALL precautions I can!

I absolutely love this hobby!
But have to say, have been beaten down pretty bad, with a
String of failures. ( mostly my not knowing correct procedures,
And also newbie mistakes! ) but like most things , your gonna fail,
now and again, just have to stand up, and go at it again!
I’m iN VIRGIN territory , with fruits!

But have learned SO much from our friends, and Family here!
It and you guys/gals, are truely AMAZING!
