Hi all,
Made the mistake of posting a question before saying hello here

.
So happy to have found this resource. We’re running a 13 gallon copper pot, 3” copper column into a condensing arm. All hand made and fabricated. Been running this setup for 3 years now and we’ve produced some fine clear spirits. Used honey so far as the base. We’ve aged most of it with charred oak spirals and have had some really enjoyable whiskey.
I make wine also, so this year had a few hundred pounds of grape leftover from pressing so our current endeavor is Grappa.
Anyway, that’s our intro. Have already done quite a bit of reading through the forums, have already found some improvements for what we’re doing.
Will find the proper forum for my question, but happy to be here.
Thanks!

Hey Dudes, welcome to HD!
Saw your question in the other thread and posted a response there.
For clarity....

So you mention in your other post "
copper reflux column" but you've not included any mention of a reflux condenser here. So is this just a pot still or do you have a RC at the top of your column?
Have fun, play safe!

Thanks and saw your responses....and have learned a lot from that exchange alone. No what I have really is a pot with a 3" x 42" column or riser. No reflux condenser....its just a copper packed riser really creating whatever reflux action we're getting from that...which I realize may be minimal.
We've been using this for some time now with fairly consistent success...even as novices. Need something both a little larger and with a better setup top end so all of this has been helpful. Glad I found this resource....so much info available it's been so informative already.

read the newbie threads and the safety threads...be careful. There is a ton of information to know and practice. Don't jump in prior to having somewhat of an idea of what you're getting yourself into. Have fun too!
