Hello, folks!

Making my first post here to this wonderdully spirited community

I'm out here in the woods of Alabama, been making spirits for about 6 months.

Our family "Shaman" has recently passed and it falls on me to fill his shoes. I was/am still learning when he went to meet our Lord in Heaven, so, I'm branching out to look for more inspiration and knowledge.

I started from scratch and only have the basics. Pardon any lack of jargon.

I hope y'all have had a mild 2020, it's been a rough ride.

Hello and welcome. Root man training? There's plenty of good information on here to help you on your journey. You'll get a bunch more science than before, but that ain't a bad thing. Sometimes learning HOW something works helps us understand WHY it works. And vice versa. Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Man, what a warm welcome! Thank you gentleman, I hope to learn some new science behind the brew, to me it's spiritual, making people happy is a passion of mine, and let's be honest, we all love spirits

Yes, I have been the only one interstesd in such a burden, or might I say willing.

My first batch was made with 5 lb flaked corn, 1 lb malted barley, 1 lb rye. Ferminted for 14 days, then I double distilled this, made my foreshot discard, saved my heads and tails for the second distillation(no thumper). I was up all night!

I made this in a 5 gal cheapo still from Amazon :/

I was told that I have a aptitude for this based on results, so I have been making more. Same recipe. I hope to refine it with you fine folk here.
