Senior Citizen here, starting with a beer keg that was given to me, bought a column on eBay, now to soak up enough knowledge to do my first mash... I've done sugar washes, but the stuff is Harsh and Nasty - used dephlegmater, the proof is very high, but it has no character. Not so bad, when I make Apple Pie Hooch, but on its own - Nasty!

Welcome, Fly727s!
Retired pilot maybe? Once you get the basics of mashing down, you'll be making some mighty tasty spirits in no time.
Best of luck in your new hobby.
