Distilling for fuel
I'm also interested in distilling for fuel. Why jerusalem artichokes? Do they have the highest plant-to-ethanol yield?

Sorry I pushed the wrong buttons and you now have a welcome topic . ( That is why it probably makes no sense)
As far as creating ethanol to produce electricity , you may find it more energy efficient to burn the plant material to create steam to run the turbine . Having said that , a local sugar mill generates its own electricity ti run the mill plus the small town around it just from cane trash .

Agree with Yummy, on a hobby scale you will use more energy than you create.
