Hi from hunter valley.

Post by Simo82 »

I Would like to join this forum for the good advice in this hobby.

I have already built a few stills, but want to take it further.

I am a stainless metal fabricator, and can make custom builds if anyone is interested.

Welcome to HD simo82.

It’s always good to see more people with tools and fab skills join. I sold my MIG and bought a TIG just to do still work, and I have to say I am absolute crap with it. I just don’t practice enough and it’s too different than the MIG unit that I had been using very infrequently for the previous 50 years. Most times, it’s just better to hire a pro. I have one part I need made so maybe I will throw a project your way? I will IM you.

Going to PM you.

Good luck with it all, this is a great forum and you will learn a lot here.
Taking a break while I get a new still completed....

Looks great and welcome in. But something to think about or remember is that we are all about boilers 30 gal and under, that one looks to be about 45 gal.

So tell us more. I am stumped on the two mid section ports. I thought perhaps one for a thermometer, but two?

I need someone with your skills. My silver brazing materials showed up today and I am about to try putting a 6 in ferrule on top of a keg and to say I am a bit nervous is to put it mildly.

Welcome Simo82,

Beautiful TIG work. According to my highly trained eye, your keg looks to be 29.875 gal.

Nice picture.
I think I would tie the legs together in some way.
Simple, would look nice.
But it reminds me of what the daughter-in-laws long legged greyhound looked like when it ran onto the slippery tiles!
Legs splayed everywhere.

Thanks all.
This is made as a beer fermenter. I'm sure it would suit as any type of washes. Ect.
I have done some weight testing on it. 90l of water plus my 95kg sitting ontop.
