Downeast Noob

Post by Zaphod_Beblebrox »

Pinball fanatic, train buff, gentle sipper of quality flavor over quantity.

I have been reading and dreaming for the past couple of years and as retirement looms closer I am getting ready to jump in as I feel I may need more than keeping up the 'money pit' and my dozen 'ol 70's pinball machines. Many questions will posted as I continue to noodle it through. My distilling interest is diverse - thinking I want to start with whiskeys (partial to spicy ryes) and would like to progress to brandies and gins as skills develops.

So CHEERS from the Maine coast on this snowy eve!

Welcome! Remember that it's a process. Any idea what kind of still you want to start out?
T-500 boiler and column
Home-made insulation blanket
StillDragon tri-clamp adaptor (useful as hell.)
Copper Pot column
"Custom" Copper Alembic Dome (I cut up a copper mixing bowl. A work in process..)
Home built SCR voltage controller

Thinking of a pot still with worm and maybe thumper to start. Maybe hybrid. Do like the 13 gallon copper milk can-ish w 3" top at Moonshinedistiller.com -- https://moonshinedistiller.com/13-gallo ... er-boiler/

Mile Hi doesn't seen to have the copper milk can anymore.

Seems like it could be very versatile.

Opinions welcome.

Cheers from the Maine coast.

Well - according to one of my Drill Instructors, oh so long ago, the middle one.

Cheers!
