1.35sg really? you need to thin that down, alot! Yeast has done all it can.sherriff Buffoerd pusser wrote:I started a rum wash on 10/22 s.g.1.35 yesterday it was going like crazy today nothing with s.g. of 1.085.Started potato wash same time but s.g. on it is .990.
You could run what you have, let it cool, and put your dunder back on your yeast lees, stir the hell out of it, and let it ferm somemore. I did the latter by accident not long ago. product was fair, but you got alot more to work with than i did.
Give it a try! You might like it.
If it was easy everybody would do it.

Its a classic stuck fermentation. The starting specific gravity was way too high. Yeast don't do well in that environment. High osmotic stresses...when they make a little alcohol then they just quit. The starting sg should be about where yours quit. If the sg is much over 1.08 then you are likely going to have the ferment quit while you still have a lot of sugar.
If you run it through the still now, the dunder will make a great base for the next ferment. You can calcutate how much alcohol you'll get. if its only a couple of percent then I would give it up, boil it without a lid and make two new washes out of it. It should have a great flavor.
I would be careful running this... Theres a lot of sugar in there and it'll burn if you're careless.
otherwise, theres lots of creative ways of restarting a stuck fermentation.

Every still is different - dont believe all you read - just because your temp measuring device says something - it aint necessarily so - if it's constant and reproducable it doesn't matter if it's accurate - you can learn to drive it.
