Racking-clearing before stripping TPW necessary or overkill?

Re: Racking-clearing before stripping TPW necessary or overk
I started letting the wash clear (rack and clear for 1 week) this summer and I'll never look back. Burnt non-fermentables, barley husks, and suspended yeasts carry a lot of flavour into your distillate if you're direct firing. I find that it's un-mistakably yeasty and bready - and not in a pleasant way.

I have a UJSSM thats been sitting since February due to me not getting my keg build done and having no desire to use the pot in the house any longer. I'd say it should be pretty clear by now (If fungus hasn't taken hold!)
EDIT*
I just cracked the seal! It's so cleat it's like staring into an amber glass lake! The flaked corn has swollen a lot so I need to figure out how to press all of the goodness out of them though. I think I'll buy a burner and take the pot outside since I'm still looking for a welder to do the mods on my keg

MIght be a side note here but all of my washes (UJSSM) are in 7.5gal fermenters and I try to keep them in the dark so they cant testify against me....
Over 90% of them turn out AWESOME !!!

Normally yes. But after a year of sitting instead of giving me 8 gallons to rack there's only 2 sitting on top due to eveyrthing being so bloatedbearriver wrote:It's UJSSM...
