Carbon in wash

Post by Newcastle1996 »

I bought the t500 and it came with the yeast carbon and clear which I used. Cause it came ‘free’ no I’ve cleared it and left it 3 days and it’s still not clear. But there is not sediment in it. Should I just run through still??

Hey Newcastle~
Back when I used clarifiers they seemed to work pretty good. Maybe your mash/wash is clearer than you think?
Murky is one thing. Lumpy and grain-particled is another.

Unless you have an internal element, it's okay to run a foggy batch. With an internal element you just don't want lumps that will scorch.
You should see the cloudy crap I run in my stainless boiler on a hot plate without a problem.

Once I ran out of clearing agents I never bought more. All my grains get squeezed through a fine mesh bag and ran.
Sugar washes --foggy as they may appear-- get ran as-is.
