HBS wort query

Post by ben699 »

Hi all, While in the local HBS i noticed some 10-15l Wort kits.

From what i have read is that you just add water. The wort is a base of grains.

Can this be put in the still once it ferments? or does it have hops? or do damage to a still?

Thinking might be an easier way then doing a full grain mash .

Yes, just add water to either DME or LME to reach your desired starting gravity and then pitch yeast. It's easier than milling, cooking, straining ... but a whole lot more expensive.

You also miss out on the tactile reward of physically handling and working with whole grains. There's just something special about running your hands through a 50lb sack of shelled corn.

You got that right, but he’s not going to find a can of LCME neither.

If you do go with extract, you should be able to find some labeled “unhopped”
Shouting and shooting, I can't let them catch me...
