New Boka

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

Nice touch...flow meter on your RC coolant line. Do you have a thermometer on the water outlet too? That’s how you know when the coolant flow is correct.

Thanks. No thermometer on the water outlet. I just go by feel on that.

Sacrificial run.
Edit, not sure why video don't work. Replaced with pictures.
Re-flux perfectly centered! Very pleased with that.

Congrats on the new still. Looks really nice. What is your max power?

You’ll be happy with that flow meter. There is good control at the low end, which you will need. I have a 1gpm model of that same meter. Your looks to be a 2gpm? The only problem I had with it was that the threads for input and output on the back are not tapered NPT threads and fit a bit loose. I had to use a lot of pipe tape to prevent leaking and am careful not to mess with the connection once I stopped the leaks.

FYI, the videos don’t work for me. “Video not available.”

Thanks. Max is 5500 watts. I run it at about 3500, any harder and it pushes the re flux up into the sight glass, I don't think I want that correct?(that's what the video was showing I just added a picture in its place). Running at 3500 I can just see slight bubbling below the sight glass.

Yep, its a 2 gpm. I had the same problem but a like you said, a little tape and it sealed up.

Your temp probe is in the wrong position. You ought be reading the vapour temperature just below the slant plates and not above. Here you will measure condensed liquid temperatures.

Otherwise looks great.

The probe is under the plate. I see what your saying though, it's the angle of the picture that makes it look like it on top.
