Blueish/Greenish stuff inside my condenser

Post by 120proof »

Hi,

It's been about two years since I've used my still and it's been sitting in a shed that's not exactly weather proof as well. I noticed that there is a blueish/greenish substance inside the condenser that should probably come off. I've read to plug the worm up and pour a 50/50 vinegar/water solution into it and let it sit over night... then repeat until the solution pours out clear. Is this the correct way to clean it out or is it trash?

Thanks.

I would run a vinegar solution then a sacrificial alcohol run as if it were a new piece of equipment

That color suggests copper salts. Should be able to clean it up. No need to trash the condenser.

It might be verdigris if you stored it clean.
Any white vinegar / citric acid mixed with water should clean this.
