Hello people

If I was to take photos with my phone and post them onto this forum, would someone be able to read the “position” data and determine my location, given that it is illegal in my location.

Just being ultra cautious because I am about to fill up a 50L barrel with whisky

Thanks for that mate. I followed the whole thread. So, in a nutshell, the forum will remove the info, but if they REALLY want to get you. You're screwed.

Umm no. The forum does not remove it .
You need to turn off location settings in your phone .

There is probably a similar method in android phones .

Call me paranoid, but any pics I upload are sanitized by processing them through an image conversion website. That will strip location data.

I looked at my phone , a Samsung.....its as easy as opening the camera to access the camera settings......then turn off the bit that says " photo location" or something similar.

Yes, it is better to shut off that feature or scrub it because it’s too revealing but really... all it takes is a subpoena and John Law knows every thing there is to know about you and where you exist. Everything. It ain’t worth the trouble. Unless yer sellin to school children or moving product in 5 gal buckets, it isn’t worth the time or effort these days. Really.

I think more about what would happen if one of the members or guests here doesn't like what I have posted for whatever reason.
At least in my country, if he finds out where I live and then shows the police my adress and a photo of my still or something I have written about, they have to look at my home. And if they find my still and homemade alcohol, they are forced to take it with them and initiate an indictment.
On time posting something like "This is spoonfeeding, do your homework." could be enough.

In general this is true.
But one single troll or banned member or someone who is not happy with something could do a lot of harm this way.
