When we put say an oyster shell in a wash can people with an allergy to shellfish drink the product?

Oyster shell is safe. Most shellfish allergy is to crustaceans, not molluscs. The allergy is to a muscle protein (tropomyosin) in the meat, not to a shell protein. And lastly, the proteins do not distill, they remain in the boiler. That is why people with gluten allergy (celiac disease) can drink whiskey but not beer. The gluten (a protein)in barley is found in beer but not in whiskey.

Yes. Unless you puke your column, only vapors are coming from the boiler. You'll get no proteins in your distillate.
