Recommended mills

Post by Almtngoat »

I have seen Corona mills mentioned here a couple times but a perusal through Amazon had a great many with a very wide price range. I don't want to spend a bunch of money for an electric one but I have several drills from very high to low speed. I guess my price range is around $150.

Ok after a full day trek through the inter webs I found what I want/need, monster mill 2pro. It will mill corn and can be 1/2" drill driven or an optional motor. It has an 11# hopper with optional 39# extension. It's a bit pricier but that's ok because it will do what I will need it to since I will be doing primarily AG mashes.

If you're going to drop 200 bucks I'd opt for something like this instead.

Got a bucket, it's own motor and apparently not very dusty.

I've heard of a few that have em and love em

You can get an older commercial coffee grinder on CL or Fleebay for around $100 if you are patient and diligent. These have adjustable grind settings and will grind whole kernel corn all day at 4 pounds a minute without even breathing hard. YMMV :eugeek:

This is similar to what I use, with a cheap 1/2" drill for power.
It's not the best tool for the job, but it will getter done

I've had no issues with my 1/2" drill driven Corona . You need multiple grinds for corn . Oats have worked it the hardest .
SRD made me a hopper extension that will hold 25# of whole corn . First grind takes 4 minutes .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .
Don't drink water , fish fornicate in it .

+1 on the AMA USA Electric Grain Grinder from Tractor Supply. I was able to grind a 50 pound whole kernel corn bag to flour/meal grist in about 20 minutes. I had to refill the hopper 3 or four times but no issues. For malt it was pulverized to near flour very easily as well. I will be fermenting and distilling on the grain so this is an ideal grinder for me. You do avenue ah store bout a week. It's not stocked at the store.
