I've been reading up on using popcorn instead of feed corn.
I gather that popcorn works like any other corn but there is not as much starch to convert and therefore pound for pound you won't get as much of a return.
Malted or not? I'm thinking I'm going to do a run using popcorn. To eliminate variables I'm going to use Booner's recipe. I've been making Booner's for a while now and figure I can get a good comparison. Question for one variable is, will it be worth it to malt the popcorn before or should I just grind and go with it out of the bag? I grind because I find working with cornmeal gives a better result. Yes, I use a drill and paint mixer to mix things up.

Re: Using Popcorn
Malt it. Popcorn is pretty easy to malt because the kernals are smaller than field corn. Malted, it will give you better corn flavor than unmalted.
