Lemon infusion

Has anyone tried putting lemon in the thumper to infuses neutral spirit like vodka?

A gin basket works great for citrus infusions. I guess a thumper could be considered a jumbo gin basket.

Should I use lemon zest or the whole lemon?

On the other hand, if you used the whole lemon, the vapour would not perhaps penetrate through the outer skin to the pith; or maybe not much.

Worth a try? (To me it seems better in the vapour than the liquid.)

the other possibility might be making a "Skeeter Pee" then distill to vodka. Not sure how much lemon would carry over. It is however on my list to try.
I saw a post about lemon vodka on another forum that was basically a Skeeter Pee as the wash.
