Yeast nutrient sticky

Post by BoisBlancBoy »

I’ve been thinking that this sub forum needs a sticky breaking down the basic yeast nutrients. Now I must confess that I don’t know them but know Pugis yeast bomb works great. I’m sure there may be other variations plus depending on if your making a straight sugar, rum or an AG. It’s just a thought especially for someone that may be trying to come up with their own recipe. Finding all the information in this sub forum may be better than trying to go to the tried and true seeing what other have used in those recipes.

If I had the knowledge or knew the science behind how to feed yeast I would certainly do it, sadly it’s not the case. Having said that I always had to search a lot or ask some needless questions.

It’s just a thought.

Sounds like a good stone in the paving. Hell, I'll second it and see what the Gods say.

For those curious, the yeast bomb comes from Pugi's Rum:
---------------------------
" Yeast Bomb "
2 vitamin B, crushed with mortar and pestle
5 teaspoons of 20-0-0, agricultural fertilizer
1/4 teaspoon of Epsom salt
1/4 cup bakers yeast
1 gallon water
Boil all for 15 minutes and strain.

The 20-0-0 fertilizer can be replaced with DAP (diammonium phosphate)
---------------------------
Here's also a nice write up for Nutrients overall.
