carmelized brown sugar

Post by level Joe »

Yesterday I was wondering about carmelized brown sugar and did some searching on homedistiller and the forum with no results (other than granulated sugar). So I made some, as it heated it gave off almost a cinnamon smell and added it to some peach brandy. It gave it an interesting and good flavor but can’t say what it will do after ageing. Have some of you tried this?

I tried caramilized brown sugar in corn whiskey. It was good, but not the flavour I was after for this whiskey. I agree it would be better suited for flavouring rum.
