No offense taken, thm, sometimes I hate message boards & email because it's so hard to convey tone in a message. Just meant to say the idea may have been hairbrained, but wasn't drunken (not that I don't have plenty of those too!!).theholymackerel wrote:Sorry if I offended ya Gent... that wasn't my intent.
One day I should really learn to make a true barrel. Let's just say coopering is in my genes.
Per LLC's experience and other's it sounds like a pretty futile path. Meantime I wait for my barrel to be delivered. And yes, presntation and historical tribute is a big part of using a barrel.
Lord preserve and protect us, we've been drinkin' whiskey 'fore breakfast.

VG 's barrel^2
I intend to try a similar experiment (6-8 sided) applewood barrel. but in order to get the lumber off of the standing deadwood apple tree, I'll have to get the @*&$ing chain saw to work again. I plan to use some of the branchwood to spin some bottels on a lathe. That might suite your needs if your chum has such equiptment and time.
Hey guys!!! Watch this.... OUCH!
