Quantity for quality (amount of oak for good result)

Post by Colin202 »

Just picked up some charred oak chips, I had been using oak sticks. It's a 4 oz bag any thoughts on how much to use. I have 24oz mason jars. Just wondering, thanks!!
Ps. They have a med oak strip uncharred I've never tried, wondering flavor comparisons before I buy any. Or is it a waste of time?

oak until you get the flavour you want, it's all about taste, but read the parent site there a stint on there about it

you just have to try it every week or so, depending on how much you put in

Mash Rookie has a thread on using (JD) chips. OK, I found it -
