Full sized oak barrel

Post by tadco »

I have access to a full sized barrel that Four Roses was aged in and then a beer, for FREE! I'm new to distilling and even if I wasn't it would take me over a year to fill it running my 5 gallon pot once a week. Any thoughts on how I can utilize this barrel?

Thanks ahead for any input

Ferment in it
Turn it into a thumper
Cut it up and make lots of toasted oak fingers.... (this is what I've done with a 1/2 JD barrel and have tons of oak)

I heard people used to go over Niagra Falls in em.

I'd scale up and fill it before it dries out, but that's just me.

Shame to see it outdoors faded in a couple years, plenty of those at the auction for a dollar.

Yep 2 and a half long years sober :)
Maybe you could cut some and check Badmotivator barrels :)
Somewhat smaller but easier to fill !
