What are your preferred char and toast levels for bourbon in a 10 gallon barrel?
Toast can be light, medium, or heavy, char can be 1, 2, 3, 4.
Looking at Gibbs barrels.
Thanks

Re: Char and toast levels
This all depends on the flavors that you are looking for. What flavors and aromas are you looking for? I would refer back to the parent site for a little guidance, based on what it is you want. Always take into account what your grain bill is and what flavors you should get from the recipe that you are using.
Good Luck!

Re: Char and toast levels
Profile 2: Complex mid-palate filler and overall lifting. Fresh oak, clove and sweet toasted coconut, almonds, toasty nutmeg, creamy textures.
Profile 3: Deep amplification of wine characteristics, with a broad support of mouth-feel volume and length.
Profile 4: Complex baking spices. Preserves fruit while rounding the finish with refined balance.
Profile 5: Smokey espresso, spicy charred meats.
