No cure for Stupid, selling on Facebook

Post by SouthTexasShine »

POLK COUNTY, Fla. —

Three people were arrested in Polk County for selling moonshine on Facebook, deputies said.

Deputies got a tip that Alton Trowell, 31, was selling the alcohol on his Facebook page.

An undercover detective contacted Trowell through Facebook, but ended up speaking to Trowel’s live-in girlfriend, Christie Comkowycz, 31.

She offered the detective 192-proof grain alcohol for $20 a pint, deputies said.

Comkowycz negotiated the sale of 12 pints for $240 and asked the detective if he was a cop.

The two met at a store parking lot on Jan. 12 with another suspect, Dalton Ridlon, 20.

Once the illegal liquor, which was in mason jars, was exchanged for money, detectives arrested Comkowycz and Ridlon.

Comkowycz told detectives that Trowell had been arrested the night before by deputies on unrelated drug charges, and she continued to use his cellphone and Facebook page in an attempt to sell moonshine, to raise enough money for his bond.

Deputies later searched Trowell’s home, where they found a 5-gallon container of moonshine, which the suspects said they do not make, they only sell.

Comkowycz told detectives she got the alcohol from Richard Lott, 48, who was later arrested by an undercover detective.

I am trying not to be judgmental, but these people are 6 years older than me and still don't know any better. The combined IQ of the whole enterprise must land in the mid to low 70's.

I will argue that there is a cure for stupid, and it comes in .40 caliber.

It's hard not to be judgemental when you read something so ridiculous. You just know this couple is going to end up on one of the dumbest criminal shows. I promise that I'll work on being less judgmental with my next mug of rum.

Well since it was stolen from a legit distillery, would it still be moonshine?

Depending on who you ask, moonshine is exclusively illegal.

It wasn't moonshine UNTIL they stole it. :lolno:

Ah, didn't go check for other articles but wanted to see if the ad was still up on Facebook. $20/gallon for stuff he stole from the distillery? Not surprised he was doing meth.

The distiller advertises as producing "Denatured Moonshine" for food preparation. Something is really messed up here.

Please someone set me straight.........

Classy.

Denatured alcohol has to follow one of many recipes provided by the federal government, all of which are engineered so that people will not consume them...

Here is a little more depth to this story..

I like the quote from the protester.
"A group of anti-drug activists were outside the Polk County Sheriff's Office and spoke to FOX 13 about the arrests.

"It'll kill ya! That stuff will send your soul to hell - in a hand basket," activist Thomas Chapman said...

Ive seen it all now, whiskey that goes off after 12 months if its not refrigerated.  :wtf:

Obviously the author is confused or somehow left out some additional information about the final product.
