This doesn't make a lot of sense, as it does not mention the fire department responding. They would have contacted the owner and done an investigation for a cause!

Maybe. I wonder if its rural enough that some houses could be back in the cut where nobody would notice? Or if the culprits were already at their only neighbor's/cousin/momma's house to hide out.
"Tommy! Clear off the couch, Tommy Jr. burnt down another stillhouse!"

It was kinda hard to tell, but that looked like a decent sized boiler and a tiny flake stand/worm. Also, propane burner in the basement...wasn't it just last week I strongly suggested someone not run propane in their basement?

In other Blountville news today, santa took presents to the ladies in jail:

Yeah, that burner looks like it would overwhelm that tiny condenser, filling the basement with alcohol vapor until the burner ignited it. FOOM!!

Someone didn't do enough reading.

And that still certainly didn't look very decorative.

Probably far enough out in rural area that no one saw it to call the FD. Burning the place down is bad enough, but burning propane indoors could have killed them all with carbon monoxide poisoning.
