Wow. What a sketchy setup!
Gives those who are doing it for personal use a bad name, when they couldn’t be fuerther apart.

My operation is small scale and clearly a hobby. I don't sell - rarely tell - and give away most of what I make. I have an experimenters heart but since what we make requires ageing we are all at risk for gallons of stuff just sitting around waiting like Christmas presents for Christmas Day or alledged 'evidence' for a hungry prosecutor. I know the Feds have easy access to my online and credit card purchases so I am not just a little worried when as one of his customers I read of Pintoshine's arrest and otherwise see that large scale moonshiner operations remain sought after. We desperately need the same privileges as home wine and beer makers.

I'm pretty sure 'Giving it away' - still accrues a tax liabilty !
If your BiL gives you a $30 watch for Xmas & you give him a bottle of 'Shine' - I think that is the equivalent of a 'Payment in kind' and properly should accrue an excise tax liability against you !

So taking the axe to those water barrels, are they that clueless or do they just think the public is?

Boys like that give us hobbiests a bad name. 'Specially since the onlyist side of the story that gets out is the ABT's. Can't some a you fellas from that great 'n respectible state contact the press and give em the truth "on backgroud". Get vocal and say what's what. The press'll protect your identity for sure. Done it myself an know it to be true.
