I LOVE SCOTCH. I wasn't a huge Scotch drinker until I tried Edradour 10y non-chill filtered. One sip literally changed my view on scotch and whiskey. I drank half the bottle and didn't even realize it. It's what started me down the whiskey making path. For me I tend to stick to 12y or older with a couple exceptions. I love Edradour, Aberlour, Ardmore and Islay whiskeys. They are good even young. For cheaps I love Teacher's Highland Cream. It's made with Ardmore. For a cheap blend it's amazing. I will say since the NAS thing the general quality of Scotch has gone downhill. Highland Park used to be a great balanced scotch but now has lost it's charm for me. Glenlivit Nadurra and Aberlour a'bunadh were previous favorites that aren't to my taste anymore. Best scotch I ever had were a couple Aberlour a'bunadh batches below 20. They went to NAS around then and it's not the same anymore.

Im a scotch noob but I've started with the Islay scotches.
Laphroaig cask strength is pretty intense, but so are Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg 10. Of those, I think I like Laphroaig the most so far.

I think my favorite overall right now is Bruichladdich The classic laddie. I wish I could get bottles of more of their offerings.

Port Charlotte is available at the local totalwine so I think that's next on the list, see how it compares to the other peated stuff.

Not sure if octomore is in my future or not but that would be cool to try.

Also, it's kind of weird how much the peated stuff grew on me. First few sips and I was thinking I blew $90, but I stuck with it and it ends up being like lemonade, I kept wanting more.

Also weird how much flavor similarity the unpeated classic laddie has with the peated bottles. I wonder if it's really just from aging on islay or if they're pulling a quick one?

Mmm, I love scotch  Balvenie 14yo Carribean Cask has been my favourite so far. I've recently had to dial back on my purchases and I've found a few 10yo Scotches that strike a good balance between taste and cost.

I've had a bottle of 1967 Glen Keith, it was smooth.
I have had many 21 year olds, talking drink here laddies so getcher mine outta da gutter!
The best of them was an Auchentoshan that was finished in Oloroso casks.
Now days I like the Scotch Whisky with more character.
I've got two bottles of Laphoaig to take with me on holiday this weekend.
Their "Select" at 40% and their 10 year Original Cask Strength at 58.6%
I will let you know what I think after I have had them!

A few years ago I tried my own hand at Scotch Whisky.
Turned out rather good if I don't say so myself.
Having some idea of what you like in a drink and why is a good first step toward making that yourself.

I prefer an Irish whisky
Only a Scotsman would be stingy enough to burn dirt to dry their malt
And then, have the audacity to charge extra for the whiskey made from it.

Dear me I love a good Scotch - almost all of them though I'm less fond of the heavily peated kinds. But in the spirit of MAGA I do like the domestic Stranahans made in Colorado.

+1 on loving scotchy scotch scotch.

I didn’t drink any whiskey until I discovered scotch. (Scotch was my gateway to Bourbon and Rye) I spent many weekends traveling all around Scotland, visiting distilleries and learning about the various styles and flavors. I was sold on the brown stuff.

I’m no expert, but I really like the 15-18 year olds. My favorite bottle is a 21 year old Bowmore. It’s a peat monster and oh so delicious. Not much left of that bottle unfortunately.

I remember when I thought bourbon was the shit. I’m sure I’d like classier bottles but the Balvenie 12 yr double wood, glenlivet 15 yr (French oak)... I’m more partial to sherry and cognac finishing casks I guess.
