Stills in Florida

Post by ClintDowns » Mon Dec 19, 2016 5:51 pm

I have read a lot in here and everything that I have found was a couple years old. I have tried to look on the TTB.com website and the Florida statutes and I have came up empty. I am military so I move around. Where I was previously, it was ok to own one. Does anyone know if it is "Legal to even own a still in Florida".

Thanks in Advance
Clint

Clint:

It is not legal to possess an aparatus (still) capable of distilling alcohol in FLA under state or federal law, without a federal permit and state commercial distillling license.

For more specific news you might check the site http://www.hobbydistillersassociation.o ... s-by-state" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

oops - that link appears to be not working now. I've emailed the owner.

It's a felony to be in possession of a still or still parts in Florida as well as possession of "mash" or "wash".

There is a strong push for changing the laws throughout the US at the Federal level and we have made headway but educating those that vote on laws has been a slow process.

Same in my state. You can't have mash, but you can make beer and wine. I guess they decide if you're legal or not based on if they find a still...

Has this ever been tested in the courts? I mean, still PARTS!? Any copper tube can be considered a still part.

And isn’t even a coffee percolator capable of distillation ?
