Here's a machine for those that's interested in making their own fuel:

Basically it works like your washing machine does. You either add sugar or discarded alcohol to the back of the machine, then press a button and wait anywhere between 5 to 7 days and you have 100% ethanol as a fuel. The problem is the cost of the machine. It can cost anywhere between $3K and goes all the way up to $30K which is insane. Here's a video of it in action:

This would be the only way I can see making your own fuel in the volume that you'd need. To make it on the cheap, you'll have to use waste products from the beer breweries and soft drink makers. I tried making my own fuel by getting the waste products I mentioned earlier. It just became impractical for me.

my still keeps up with demand for my car when I feel like mixing petrol and ethanol (gives it a good cleanout)

interesting read though, thanks for sharing
