Jar holder for a boka still

Post by oakback »

I use a propane burner. I didn't like the idea of having a stand next to my still to hold my output container. A wooden stand was a fire hazard, plastic would melt, and metal would heat up and cause a burn hazard. Also, I didn't want a long output tube (no liebig condenser) that would be bumped and bent or kinked. So this is what I came up with.

It's a sort of shelf for a jar, and for the digital thermometer. I kludged it together with two pegboard hooks and a couple hose clamps to hold it all in place. The jar holder says "NO DIVING", it's from the edge of an above-ground pool, a part that held the frame and liner together, bolted to the pegboard hook with a light fixture strap I had laying around. Now there is less to trip on or knock over.

I typically use this type of jar. The narrow mouth helps keep crap out, and makes it easier to pour into my gallon jugs (glass).

The output tube is not long:

Really good idea.
Thanks for that, I had been trying to wok out a practical way of doing the same.
Now I don't have to.
Well done.

BTW bok looks good.
