Note: This is nothing new to the site by any means. I just wanted to share my experience and see what other suggestions fellow members have.
For the past couple of years, I have been using a 15.5 gallon boiler primarily for neutrals with my CCVM, as well as in pot mode for stripping runs and whiskeys. I have made Odin’s Easy Gin a couple times before, and loved it, but had to make quite a bit of it to adequately cover the element in my boiler.
This made me decide to make something small. Something to only be used for maceration-style runs in which I can experiment with and not put so many eggs into one basket.
I decided to use a 3 gallon stainless stock pot I had laying around, as well as a stainless mixing bowl for the lid. I wanted this to be a quick and easy build that didn’t require any soldering or flour paste (nothing against these methods at all). I also wanted my column connection to be a 2” tri-clamp connection, so that I could use my existing fittings and shotgun condenser.
Below is a picture and description of the materials I used:
• 3 Gallon Stainless Stock Pot
• Stainless Mixing Bowl
• 3 Everlasting Gaskets (Cardboard and PTFE tape) 1 for the boiler and 2 for the bulkhead fitting.
• 1 7/8” Hole Saw
• Drill
• Cutting oil, WD-40, or something else to help cut through
• Small Metal File
• 10 Metal Clamps
• 2” Tri-clamp Bulkhead Compression Fitting (see link below)

Note: the bulkhead fitting comes with silicone gaskets. I tossed those and made two everlasting gaskets to size
After getting the materials together, and making the three gaskets, I cut a 1 7/8” hole into the bowl (low and slow and with some cutting oil) and filed the edges down to protect the gaskets.
I then installed the bulkhead fitting with a gasket on both sides of the bowl. I thought I would need a large stainless washer between the nut and gasket, but went without and haven’t had any issues.
I then connected the mixing bowl to the stock pot using the gasket and the 10 clamps.
The result is an easy, vapor-tight solution to making a small maceration boiler that will fit your current 2” fittings and condenser. I run mine with a hot plate and have done my cleaning run, sac run, and one OEG run with no issues.
Let me know what you all think. Hope it is helpful to someone in the future.

Re: Easy Maceration Boiler
A nice little build. I'm somewhat jealous of people who just happen to have 3 gallon stainless cook pots kicking around. My largest is 18l and I'm planning to mod a lid for it to turn it into a still for batches that fall between my 30l keg and 5l saucepan (with modded lid) which tends to be used for gin runs.
