Little help here... If I have a Defegmator or however u spell it in my reflux column couldn't I just not pump water thru it and run as a pot still

Well, a dephlegmator (defleg) is a REFLUX condenser.Durhommer wrote:Little help here... If I have a Defegmator or however u spell it in my reflux column couldn't I just not pump water thru it and run as a pot still
If you have one inline and ONLINE, then you’re refluxing. And pot distilling does not require reflux, as it is a single distillation process, unlike the multiple distillations possible through a reflux still.
I guess that’s why it is called, “reflux” or “potstilled”.

Tappa-crappa photos don’t show up here. Resize appropriately and post them on this website, not an external host. That’s the rules here.Eclecticon wrote:Stainless Weck pan. 30 ltrs 1800 Watts. Stainless column filled with stainless sponges. ‘//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201904 ... f47362.jpg

Re: Just Post a Pick of your Rig
Just wanting to be sure I'm getting these concepts right. I'm on the fence about ccvm build weighing cost of buying over less cost in build but added stress trying to build and have problems... Plug n play would be nice but. Is it worth it? I've been told I can build a nice ccvm setup in the 200 range and I am getting tired of my small contraption I have now a build guide would be nice where's that thread

Though a pic or my current set up for rum stripping runs might be good.
Please note I am aware of and support the 30 gal boiler limit, the 44 gal drum in the pic is borrowed and used only for low wines storage until I can get a few generations going and I can afford a barrel.

Took me a long while work out the importance of copper but the 6>4 reducer at the bottom of the column is filled with these. It appears to have reduced puking too.

It will now take a long to make it clean every time just after the run is over, eh?What wrote: Took me a long while work out the importance of copper but the 6>4 reducer at the bottom of the column is filled with these.

Nothing that complicated guys, just overnight in hot dunder and hose off in the morning does the trick every time.VLAGAVULVIN wrote:YeppDurhommer wrote:An overnight soak with vinegar and some baking soda they should be bright again
Might have to clean them now

4 plate set up for rum spirit run.
Taken a few weeks but 6th generation dunder seems to be the tipping point for real rum smells

I know, I know, my rig isn't complete yet, but it's getting there... plus the forum page didn't specify completed or in progress rigs. Feedback would be amazing.

Wow. I thought mine was the bees knees till I saw some of your rigs. Mines all from scratch with the exception of the keg.

Looks like the gasket on that SS pot is silicon, which is no good for contact with high proof spirits. Either wrap it in PTFE tape or look into building yourself an everlasting gasket.
