Awesome Simple Teriyaki Marinade

Post by TDS »

Hi all, hope you're well!

I use this marinade for steaks, steak tips, venison, chicken, wings,
turkey, pork or about anything but fish.
It's too strong for fish IMHO, but you might not think so.

3/4 cup soy sauce

16 oz pineapple juice

1/2 onion rough chopped

Ginger, dry or fresh

That's it!

Soak overnight in a ziploc or whatever.

Options:

I add garlic and a hot pepper. You can if you want but you don't have to.

How I do it:

I put the onion in a 1 gallon ziploc bag, and add my hot pepper and garlic (optional).
If I'm using fresh ginger root, I throw that in too...
Then I use the round side of a ladle and bash the crap out of it.
Gets the juices flowing! :P
Add in the rest, drop in your meat, put in the fridge overight.
Paper plate under it in case of leaks.
I use a 16oz can of goya pineapple juice it's way cheaper than dole
And it's the perfect size. In the international foods, not the juice aisle.

Hope you like it!

"You know, you can just buy that stuff right up the road" he said.
I just smiled, and said quietly, "No you can't".

If anybody does use this, I'd love to hear back what you think..

How it came out, what meat, and any variations people might have made.

And what you think of it after you try it!

Cheers!

He said... "Drop in your meat" LOL

You can do it for fish, too, but I would reduce the soy to 2 TBSP, and the pineapple to half a cup. Fresh ginger is always better than dry. Maybe 1-2 Oz for fish. But I'd skip the hot pepper.

Gonna use something very similar to this on some pork ribs this weekend. I soak them for 2 days after letting them sit in the fridge for about 20 days after the pack date. Then grill them real slow. MMMMmmmmm good!!

They taste perfect with this.

Those look a LOT like siling labuyo, but I see they are a different strain, and hotter. Very nice. My wife has a friend who grows plants that are a graft between siling labuyo and calamansi. Ever heard of calamansi? You'd love it... Wish I could grow it here!

Store bought ones? Is that 20 days after expiry date?

Interested in this.

Sturgeon does not taste like fish and is much more dense so the recipe would probably work. It also takes on the flavor of the marinade more than most fish and meat.

I usually order plants from here. One year I grew Bhut Jolokias. The growing season is short here,
so I had to baby them insideto start... it says you can't grow them in my region but I made it work.
Lots of work, but one years crop is enough for a lifetime, lols.
They taste all fruity for a minute, just to suck you in.
