I don't think he ever got his stirrer :D

If you've ever... noticed the 4 branches of aloe vera on the worktop that had fallen off one of the plants and immediately google searched the HD forums to see how you might use them...

When you've splurged on an expensive bottle, smelled heads straight up, didn't enjoy it as much as you thought you would, woken up with a killer headache after only a few then wonder how this stuff gets sold for the price it does...

Finding it hard to drink most Scotch these days, even ones I used to enjoy, unless it's an Islay and then only one or two... And then only for that peaty flavour, think that's going to be my next experiment after the rum is right...

But I guess there's also the reverse, drinking half a litre of 40abv neutral, not feeling much until I stand up and nearly fall over 🙃

Generally wake up feeling good the next day though...

Jonny, they are perhaps 50-70 yeas old . Made of spun copper .The tops are also spun and soldered on …. Probably lead solder … but easily removed

With the top removed , they would make a nice stacked plated column being as they are just over 4” each .

I have no idea what they were originally used for , but these ones have ended up being used as Radiation cans . I have looked in various catalogues that we have and can’t see them for sale .

The things they sell as Radiation cans look mire like painted aluminium drink bottles .

But , like you, I wish I could get more.

The’d make a cute little Gin still too.

My chores list today:

1. Replace broken cable on the wife's hair straighteners
2. Convince the dog to take his worming tablet
3. Make vodka kahlua and panty dropper for the girls night in next week

It comes to something when the mrs spends more time browsing the tried and true than i do.
It's much easier to cut a bit off than weld a bit on...

When my girlfriend sees a package in the mail and says "something for making liquor?", and is surprised when i say no. Then notices another package, asks the same question and the answer is yes.

Dear family, ive made a few of you stir some of my washes in the 4ft tall fermenters that i use with a 6' pole, how is this 24" thing going to help? As awesome as the last two were, please stop buying me paddles unless it looks like I can row a boat with it... Said with humour and a smile, but had to be said...

Travelling a few weeks ago with SWMBO behind the wheel,
pass a company that says "Milling" on the front. Oh it's lumber :(

A few miles later she points out the "new plant".
"It always stinks!"

I know the feeling.
I work for the DOC and 80 hour work weeks are a common occurrence.
I'm glad my work van was locked last month when the shop guys were trying to dump a prison toilet in it for shits and giggles. Got damaged in a riot.
When I was laughing about the attempt with 'em I was definitely thinking about how one could pull off a ferment in it.
Yup. That's how I know.

Thank you sir. Barrel aged Brandy. Made from a couple Riesling wine kits. It’s plenty tasty. That barrel now holds SBB Rum.
With the dry climate here my hooch climbed from 120+- to 130 proof.

Very nice. I love my wine kit brandy. Lots of flavour on oak. I got some real stuff aging from peaches and apples but I'm giving it a year first. The kits are quick easy way to get a good sip i find. I was also told recently, but haven't tried it yet. A good neutral and some brandy extract flavour stuff you buy makes a killer brandy. Again, haven't tried but when I do I'll let ya know how it tastes comparison wise.🍻

You might try proofing some down with some of that Riesling if you have any left - I have that on my list too!

Unfortunately I do not JS. This won’t be my last Brandy though, so I’ll also put it on my list however, I venture to bet you’ll get to it before I will

Here’s one, had some visitors today, guy noticed my still( 21/2 copper ) sitting on top of my China hutch. Offered him a sample, said “ that’s the best whiskey I’ve ever tasted” that’s when you know you’re doing it right!

If you own a k-cup coffee maker and observed how it makes coffee you’ll know that the first and last bit is nothing but hot water coming out.
I’ve taken to making a “heads, hearts and tails cut” on the coffee it brews.

On a similar observation, weak coffee = the stuff that's in spirits without the alcohol.
Obviously an over simplification.
