Got a story for the bench one of these days, my late FIL.

Aussie classic
https://youtu.be/dTjvG4WJD_A" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
I never heard it before. Lyrics are spot on and reminded me of a post I made on a mostly ANZUS forum little over a week ago:

I don't know how it was at the time for you mates on the other side of the world, but it was an embarrassing time to be an American.

So I had a moment today.
Waiting to pick up a go order at a local meat & three diner, a gentleman older than me was waiting as well. Had on an Air Force Vietnam Veteran cap.
As usual when I get a chance, I said,
"That's a nice cap Sir. Thank you."
He gave me a smile and said, "Thanks! That's a lot better than the reception I got in San Francisco when I came home."

He talked about that and I told him my aunt & some of friends were stationed at the Embassy during 68 Tet and it was pretty tough.
And they couldn't talk it about it years later.

He said "Yeah I pretty much got it all. Malaria, PTSD, Agent Orange. Don't know why they had to use that stuff. They went in and took half my guts out. Guess I didn't need them. But I'm good now except I can't drink whiskey."
My food was ready, so I said I was glad to hear he was good and suggested he try gin.
I gave him a pat on the shoulder and thanked him again.

Carpe Diem my friends :!:

Not a massive fan of classical but the first piece of music I taught myself to play was Beethoven's 9th symphony. I almost by accident acquired an old church peddle reed organ (harmonium) and when asked what I was gonna do with it I said heck I might even learn to play it. Now the only sheet music I have was Lutheran hymnal tunes and hymn of joy is an adaptation of ode to joy which was a poem written by an ancestor's cousin (fella called Johann Christoph Freidrich von Schiller) and was set to that piece so I figured it good as any place to start. Second kind of classical tune was the Australian national anthem I tore out the back page of the phone book

Je Casse Ou Je Plie – by Jasmin Shaw
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jhpOoW ... sp=sharing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

(a clumsy Google Drive link that I've created, which might not stream properly, or that might need to be downloaded before it can be played.)

Back story:
I looked online for both the song and the singer and could find nothing. Disappeared, lost like it never existed. A Google search revealed about twenty Facebook 'Jasmin Shaws' who looked nothing like this Yasmin (who lived in Paris when she wrote this and other music). The file attributes to the .mp3 version of the song I have on my computer, date its age back to September 2000. I have several good music files of that age (18 yrs old) that I acquired mostly from an online startup named “Mp3.Com”. Not long afterwards however Mp3.Com suffered a fate similar to Napster's.

--
I also downloaded the following song from Mp3.Com - 18 years ago. It though, is still accessible to the public.

back in 1986, I was in a old backwash town in Mississippi called Yazoo
I was in a old Honky tonk bar called Charlies, I was the bar tender, and 1 afternoon a old Black man
walked in the door, an Introduced himself as BB KING, At first I was like, yeah right, but he WAS BB King
we talked for a while and he asked me if he could play Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights for the door.
I was not authorized to say yes or no, but I am also not stupid, I told him yes.
I had stuff I had to do, and could not be there fri and sat night, But I was there sunday night.
BBKing took a break between sets and joined me outback at the picnic table we hang out at.
We smoke a joint, talked about woman and music, and the best part, I held Lucille in my hands
while Mr King twisted one up, I did not strum her, I felt that would be disrespectful.
He was a hell of a nice guy, funny as hell and a memory i will never forget

The original masters of ethereal wave sound. Between Elizabeth Fraser's angelic glossolalia and Robin Guthrie's effects driven guitar wizardry these guys produced a sound that could calm an angry rhino. Angel with an electric harp stuff.
When my daughter was very little I'd dance her to sleep in my arms to entire albums from this band. Even now if I play tunes from these guys she'll stop what she's doing to sit and listen....

Oh she'd probably like that stuff too. They did some slow drifty tracks and still have a cult following. My mom used to sing this one to me while I was in the crib, I'll never forget it. When I came across this cover of it I broke down. A sad sentimental ghost tapped me on the shoulder first time I heard it....

Thanks again @Wiifm & @Tater for getting this fixed.

October 4, 1970 Janis Joplin died of a heroin od.
I was lucky enough to see her in a concert in Tuscaloosa, 68 or 69.
But she was pissed that the police wouldn't let her bring her bottle of Southern Comfort on stage.
So she did a half ass show with no encore as I recall.
But she was hell on wheels.
Still have this album and the opening licks are something else.
