Well by golly i contributed to this thread a few times, and i always have my heart and mind open to any music from any time and any corner of this amazing earth we live in.... especially here i like to draw attention to songs that have content that has to do with the beloved spirits we gather HERE to learn grow and share about .... that being said... as i scrolled down to the end of the messages here i read what crow said about how the song will stir empathy in us, i agree... and a few days ago i heard a song that i had never heard before... but i knew i needed to get a copy as soon as i heard it... and secondly i knew i would have to share it here.

Truth be told, the song reminds me of an old girlfriend, I was cured of her .... but i really do appreciate gin these days with cran rasberry juice :D

Artist: Dinah Washington
Song: Me and my Gin

Not bad. Falls into the odd metal that you have playing in the background while your doing something else. Ive had alot of Amon Amarth, Slayer, Motorhead, Arch Enemy, etc playing lately. About a month & half ago I found Body Count. Reminds me of the rap/rock of the late 90s & early 2000s but with the attitude of not giving a F about the money & radio time. Zeppelin, Floyd, Nugent, Nazareth & the like, I just cant kick those out of the mix. Hair of the dog is playing this morning while I cook & surf the net.

... and Carcass, and Sadist, and Sepultura, and Anacrusis, and Coroner, and so forth,,, and Dream Theater, and Tool, all of a sudden )))

Smashing afroz (am i allowed to use the word like that here?)... yeah, i was recently surprised to know the RU-ppl twice as younger than me know them well.
And hell yeah, there always were the bands that could sound more slaytanic than Slayer did ;)

I may have posted this before.
My opinion, this is the best version of this song.
Aside from the main "theme" it reminds me of spending summers in West Alabama with my Grandma and Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Definitely remember lunch with corn, black eyed peas, cast iron skillet fried chicken and biscuits left over from breakfast.
And this was about 30 miles or so from Chickasaw County, Mississippi.
One more thing. Wasn't trying to kill myself, but anyone else here ever go jumping off bridges or train trestles - INTO the river  - when they were young?
